Cookie Policy
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on www.rapiddespatch.co.uk, what each one does and how to change your choice. It is published by Rapid Despatch Logistics Ltd (company number 04215880). How we handle personal data more generally is set out in our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Websites also use similar technologies, such as local storage and session storage, that work in the same way. In this policy, "cookies" covers all of them.
Some are strictly necessary for the website to work. The rest need your permission first.
Your choice
When you first visit, a banner asks whether you allow analytics cookies. They stay off unless you choose "Allow analytics". "Reject" is just as easy, and the website works fully either way.
You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings in the footer of every page. If you withdraw consent, we delete the analytics cookies from your browser and stop collecting analytics data.
We ask again after 12 months, or sooner if we change the cookies we use.
We do not use advertising or marketing cookies.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary
These make the website work and remember your cookie choice. They do not need consent.
| Name | Provider | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| rd_consent | Rapid Despatch (local storage) | Remembers whether you allowed or rejected analytics | 12 months |
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare | Protects the website against automated attacks. Only set if our security service needs to check a visit | 30 minutes |
[TO CONFIRM: re-run a cookie scan on www.rapiddespatch.co.uk after launch. __cf_bm was not set on the review site; keep the row only if it appears on the live domain.]
Analytics (only with your consent)
These tell us how visitors use the website, such as which pages they view and which pages lead to an enquiry, so we can improve it. They are only set after you choose "Allow analytics".
| Name | Provider | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another | 2 years |
| _ga_ESZPTPXTRW | Google Analytics | Keeps track of your visit | 2 years |
| rd_attr | Rapid Despatch (session storage) | Remembers how you arrived at the site (the landing page, the referring site and any campaign tags in the link) so it can be sent with an enquiry you make during the same visit | Until you close the browser tab |
Google Analytics is provided by Google. It does not receive your name or contact details. Advertising storage is always off, and we have switched off Google's collection of user-provided data. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Content from other websites
Some pages include content provided by other companies. These can set their own cookies, which are covered by their own policies, not ours.
| Content | Where it appears | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Google Maps | The map of our branches and coverage on the home, About, Contact, Same-day courier, Storage and fulfilment and Courier work pages, and the map on the Southampton branch page | When the map loads, Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies. See Google's privacy policy |
| Deftform forms | The account application on Open an account, the application form on Courier work, and the subcontractor agreement | The form runs inside a frame from share.deftform.com. It sets two strictly necessary cookies, deftforms_session and XSRF-TOKEN, which last 2 hours and make the form work securely. Deftform also uses a cookie-free analytics service and looks up your approximate location from your IP address to preselect the country code on phone numbers |
The Online Tracking and Customer Login links in the header go to our booking and tracking system, which is provided by Coda Commerce Ltd and runs on a separate website. It sets its own cookies, which are covered by its own policy, not ours.
Controlling cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the website, such as the forms, from working. The ICO's guide explains how: ico.org.uk/for-the-public/online/cookies.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
