Same-day courier to Leicester
Rapid Despatch delivers to Leicester by dedicated vehicle, around 120 miles from our nearest branch. There is no Leicester depot. We are an independent courier company trading since 2001, with four branches in Hampshire and Berkshire, covering Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey, and around 50 drivers.
Into the middle of the country's distribution belt, on one vehicle with one driver. Parts, stock, documents and pallets, with a controller who knows that a booking slot is not optional.

Rapid Despatch runs same-day courier jobs to Leicester on a dedicated vehicle, one hundred and twenty miles up the M40, M42 and M69, and Rapid Despatch covers it with a dedicated vehicle that goes nowhere else on the way.
Two and a quarter hours of driving, but on this route the road is rarely what decides your delivery time. Most Leicester freight lands at a distribution site running a vehicle booking system, so the slot the receiving warehouse gives you sets the plan and we work backwards from it. You get a fixed price for the whole job before you commit to it. Waiting outside a missed slot is the charge most likely to appear on this route.
Why the warehouse, not the road, sets the timing
A Leicester job is usually allocated at our Reading branch, and the controller confirms it on the day. Which vehicle actually runs depends on where the nearest available driver is when you ring.
Leicester sits in the middle of the country's distribution belt, and that changes what a courier is actually being asked to do.
Up the M40 and across the M69
The run is the A34 to the M40, north to the M42, then the M69 north-east into Leicester. Around a hundred and twenty miles, almost all motorway, and one of the cleaner runs on our list.
The M42 and M6 junction area around Birmingham is the pinch point, as it is on everything we send north. The M69 itself is usually clear, and the approach into Leicester on the A563 outer ring depends on which side of the city you are going to.
If your delivery is tied to a booking slot, a production line or a dispatch cut-off, tell the controller the genuine latest acceptable arrival. In this part of the country the receiving site's clock is usually stricter than the road.
What carries it, and how the price is built
Two kinds of job come up here. One is a single component or a document going to a factory or an office, and a small van handles it. The other is palletised stock going into a warehouse, which needs a Luton or a tail-lift and a plan for getting the pallet off at the far end.

What the cover is
On a dedicated vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes anywhere in the UK, account holders are covered to a maximum of £25,000. On other services, liability is limited to the value of the goods, the cost of repairing them, or £1,000 per tonne on gross weight, whichever is lowest.
Higher cover can usually be arranged before collection at an additional charge, so declare the value when you book.
Delivering into Leicester
The distribution belt, and why the slot matters
That is the single most useful thing to send with a Leicester booking: the slot time, the booking reference and the gatehouse instruction. Get it from the receiving site before we collect, not while the driver is at the barrier, because the waiting clock runs either way.
The estates and the city
The commercial work spreads around the ring road. Meridian and the western business parks carry offices and technology. Beaumont Leys, Thurmaston and the northern estates hold trade and manufacturing units. Braunstone and the southern side carry the rest.
Leicester also retains a significant textile, clothing and food manufacturing base, which produces its own kind of urgent job: a fabric roll, a component, a sample needed before a run starts. Those addresses are often small units behind a shared yard, so the unit number and a mobile matter more than the street.
The M1 and the M69, both managed by National Highways, meet just outside the city, and most of the commercial estates hang off one or the other, which is why a Leicester job rarely needs the centre at all. Loughborough, Hinckley and Market Harborough sit close enough to be drops on the same run rather than separate bookings.
What a Leicester run is attached to
Most Leicester same-day work runs on somebody else's clock. Inbound booking slots at distribution sites. Production and packing runs waiting on a component or a sample. Space and engineering supply chain work with a test date. Retail replenishment against a store deadline.
Each has a point after which the delivery loses its value. Tell us that point and the controller can tell you honestly whether the vehicle allocated to your job can meet it.
Where the deadline belongs to a warehouse rather than to you, it is worth confirming it with the receiving site before booking. Slots are moved and cancelled more often than people expect, and a run planned to a window that no longer exists costs the same as one planned to a real one.
Covered on the same run
Leicestershire is compact, and all of these sit a short run from the city. Name them at quotation and they price as additional drops on one job rather than as separate bookings.

Leicester courier questions
Yes, and on this route it is the normal way a job runs.
Five things: how many pallets, the dimensions including the pallet itself, the total weight, whether the load can be stacked, and what lifting equipment exists at each end.
No.
It depends on the distance, the vehicle, the timing and the access at both ends. See our guide to what same-day costs
Sometimes, and it depends where the goods start.

Call 0345 8333 833 with the delivery slot if you have one and the postcode if you do not. Between them those two facts decide the whole plan. For planned work, the quote form takes the pallet count, the loading arrangements and the gate reference.
