Same-day courier to Liverpool
Rapid Despatch delivers to Liverpool by dedicated vehicle, around two hundred miles from our nearest branch. There is no Liverpool depot. We are an independent courier company trading since 2001, with four branches in Hampshire and Berkshire, covering Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey, and around 50 drivers.
Two hundred miles for consignments that cannot be handled, cannot wait, or are going onto a ship. We will tell you when an overnight service is the better answer.

Rapid Despatch runs courier and same-day courier jobs to Liverpool by dedicated vehicle, two hundred miles by road on the M40, M6 and M62.
A dedicated vehicle carries the consignment the whole way, with no hub, no transfer and no second driver. The drive is around four hours on a clear run, so a same-day delivery needs an early collection. You get a fixed price before you commit. At this distance an overnight service costs a fraction, and we will say so if that is the right answer for your consignment. Deliveries on the Wirral side cross a tolled tunnel, quoted rather than added afterwards.
Two hundred miles, and when it is worth it
A Liverpool job is usually allocated at our Reading branch, and the controller confirms it on the day. Which vehicle actually runs depends on where the nearest available driver is when you ring.
Four hours of driving before anything is delivered. That is the honest shape of this route, and it decides whether a same-day vehicle is the right call. If the consignment is going out on a vessel, into a plant that has stopped, or is worth several times the cost of the run, it is.
M40, M6, M62, and then which side of the river
Reading to the M40, up to the M42, onto the M6 past Birmingham, then the M62 west into Liverpool. The M6 around Birmingham and again at Thelwall is where this route loses time, and both are worst in the afternoon peak.
Then the river decides the last few miles. Liverpool proper, the docks, Bootle and Seaforth are on the eastern bank and come off the M62 or the A5036. Birkenhead and the Wirral are on the western bank, and getting there means the Queensway or Kingsway tunnel, both of which are tolled.
Speke and Halewood come off the A561 in the south, close to the airport. Knowsley Industrial Park, one of the largest in the north west, sits off the M57 and never needs the city at all. Tell us which of those you are and the route is settled before the vehicle leaves Reading.
What carries it, and how the price is built
Liverpool work is usually a small or medium van carrying something urgent and valuable, because at this distance the consignment has to justify a dedicated vehicle. Where the load needs lifting equipment, a Luton or tail-lift is booked instead.

What the cover is
Goods in transit insurance is provided. Account holders are covered to £25,000 on a dedicated vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes, and on other services liability is limited to £1,000 per tonne. Higher cover can be arranged before collection, so declare the value when you book. Read the full conditions of carriage
Covered on the same run
Merseyside is served on the same run. Birkenhead is across the river, so tell us at booking and the crossing is planned rather than discovered at the tunnel mouth.

Liverpool courier questions
Distance decides it. Liverpool is two hundred miles from our nearest branch and around four hours of driving, so a same-day vehicle costs several times an overnight service.
Only where the crossing is actually used. Deliveries in Liverpool, Bootle and Seaforth are on the eastern bank and need no tunnel. Birkenhead and the Wirral do, and the Queensway and Kingsway tunnels are tolled (Mersey Tunnel tolls, Merseytravel), so it is passed on at cost. Tell us the postcode at booking and it appears in the quote rather than on the invoice. To see how a quote is built, See our pricing breakdown for long runs.
Yes, on the same basis. We can collect anywhere in the UK, normally within 90 minutes, so a Liverpool collection is quoted the same way as a delivery into the town.
Yes, for acceptable goods and where we have the terminal, operator, reference and any driver or vehicle clearance requirement. The port controls access rather than we do, so send its instructions with the booking rather than at the gate.
It depends on the distance, the vehicle, the timing and the access at both ends. To see how a quote is built, See our pricing breakdown for long runs.
